The Way I See It

It seems that the US had three huge foreign
policy problems when Obama took office:
our foreign wars, Iran and North Korea.

Now, happily, we're out of Iraq and winding
down in Afghanistan- although I think those
countries will fall apart anyway after what W
did to upset their balance- and Iran is coming
around for the first time in 30 years.

North Korea is still problematic, but it always
has been, and yet, the US has proved willing
to be tough and it's caused that insane country
to mitigate (to some degree) its bellicose tone.

But since Iran is so central to Mideast politics,
I feel today is a great day for us all to celebrate
the sensible mature leadership, which has averted
the aggressive Israeli- proposed strike. That would
have guaranteed a spreading war, one we've avoided,
thanks to Obama's caution.

Our economy is mending slowly; we have health
care, at last; Marriage Equality is legally affirmed
with support from the White House; so many fine
signs of progress... and as the GOP self-destructs,
there are chances for further advances for human
rights and common sense.
